What it does
Loyalty points and referrals for OpenCart 4: points on complete orders with a tier multiplier, spending as a taxed order total line, expiry per earning, reversal on cancel or refund, a personal referral link with a welcome coupon, fraud flags and a hold before the reward is paid. Own ledger, hourly cron, no OCMOD.
What it changes for your store
- One loyalty program, not six modules. Customers earn points when an order is complete, see them in their account, spend them in the cart and invite friends. Everything is kept in one ledger that cannot award the same order twice.
- Know the limits. This version sends no e-mails. Referral rewards are points only. OpenCart's own reward points are a separate balance; lines whose product has core reward points are skipped by default. A friend must create an account after following the link. OpenCart 4.1 only.
Features
Earning and spending
- Points per 1.00 spent on the products after discounts (shipping, tax and fees earn nothing), awarded only when the order reaches a Complete status you choose
- Tiers by spend in a rolling window (for example Silver, Gold, Platinum) with a points multiplier, a progress bar in the account
- Welcome points for a new account, optional
- Points are spent in the cart as a taxed "Loyalty points" order total line: the tax of the discounted part is removed like a coupon, shipping is never paid with points, and a minimum and a maximum share of the products are enforced

Refer a friend
- A personal link and code for every customer, a referral code field on the registration form, a consent-friendly first-party cookie (or browser session only)
- The friend gets a single-use welcome coupon (a core coupon), the referrer points after the friend's first qualifying order and a hold period you set to match your return window
- Fraud flags: own e-mail (Gmail dots and +tags included) is rejected; same IP, same device, same address or phone, or an e-mail that already ordered are held for your review or rejected; caps per referrer per month and in total
- A cancelled or refunded qualifying order during the hold means no reward

How do I install the extension?
- Upload. Extensions > Installer: upload the .ocmod.zip. It is for OpenCart 4 (4.0.2 to 4.1.x).
- Install and enable. Extensions > Extensions > Modules: install, open the settings and switch it on. Events register themselves; nothing is patched.
- Enter the license key. Paste the key from My licenses. Subdomains, staging and local hosts are included; you have 14 days to do it.

Which OpenCart versions does it work with?
OpenCart 4.1.0.4. Tested on OpenCart 4.1.0.4. The Compatibility tab lists every version range.
Do the extensions change core files?
No. They work through OpenCart events and standard extension types (modules, order totals, themes). No core file edits, no OCMOD patches, no theme template edits, so OpenCart updates and other extensions keep working.
What does the license cover?
One production store domain with every subdomain (www, shop., staging.), plus local development hosts such as localhost, *.local and *.test. A store on another domain needs its own license; a second-store license is 40% off. You have 14 days after installing to enter the key. 12 months of updates and support are included; after that the extension keeps working and renewals are 50% off. How licensing works

Overview
A loyalty program and a referral program in one extension for OpenCart 4.1. Customers earn points when an order is complete, see their balance, tier and history in their account, spend points in the cart and invite friends. Everything lives in one ledger that never awards or returns the same order twice.

Installation
Requirements: OpenCart 4.1.0.x, PHP 7.4 or newer with the mbstring extension.
- In the OpenCart admin open Extensions > Installer, upload
kv_loyalty_referral.ocmod.zipand click Install. - Open Extensions > Extensions, choose Modules, find Loyalty Points & Referral Rewards, click the green Install button, then the blue pencil.
- Installing creates the tables, registers the events and the hourly cron entry and adds the Loyalty points order total (status on, sort order 4, next to the coupon so it lowers the tax base). Existing data and settings are kept if you install again.
- Open the settings and check the Earning, Redeeming and tiers and Referrals tabs. Defaults: 1 point per 1.00, one point worth 0.01, at least 100 points, at most 50% of the products, points expire after 365 days, 500 points for a referral after a 14-day hold.
- Make sure the OpenCart cron job runs (
php /path/to/cron.phpevery few minutes), or call the address shown on the Data and cron tab every hour. It pays referrals whose hold ended and expires points. - Tell your cookie notice about the two first-party cookies (see Configuration, Referrals), or switch them off.
Uninstall: Extensions > Modules > Uninstall removes the events, the cron entry and the order total line. It keeps points, referrals, member codes, the licence state and your settings, because OpenCart 4 updates an extension by uninstalling and installing it again. To remove everything, use Data and cron > Delete all data first.
Update (OpenCart 4.1): Extensions > Modules > Uninstall, then Extensions > Installer: Uninstall and Delete the old entry, upload the new zip, Install, and Extensions > Modules > Install. Points, referrals, the licence and your settings are restored; open the settings page once so database changes of the new version run. Installing again never resets existing settings.

Tax. The points discount is spread over the product lines in proportion; the percentage taxes of the discounted part are removed, fixed-amount taxes stay (the same as the core coupon). Place of the line: sort order 4 (Extensions > Order Totals), before the Tax line.

Flags. self_email (the referrer's own address, Gmail dots and +tags ignored) is always rejected. same_ip, same_device, same_address, same_phone and existing_customer (the e-mail ordered as a guest before the account existed) are held for review or rejected, per setting. Offices and households share IPs, which is why flags go to review by default.
Data and cron
The scheduled task (hourly) pays referrals after the hold and writes off expired points. Run the task now does the same. Delete all data removes every ledger entry, referral and member code after you type DELETE.
License
The key field and a status card; the extension works for 14 days without a key. Without a valid license the storefront features (earning, spending, referral tracking, the account page) stop; the admin is never blocked and reversals for cancelled orders still run.
Usage
Customers
- My Account shows a new entry "Loyalty points and referrals": balance and value, tier and progress, the tier table, the referral link with a Copy button, referred friends (e-mails masked), the welcome coupon and the points history. Order lines link to the order
- Product pages show "Earn about N loyalty points" next to the cart button (price after specials, with the customer's tier)
- The cart page has Use loyalty points (N available): enter the points and press Apply; the totals show a "Loyalty points (N)" line. A request above the allowed share is reduced to it
- Points are spent when the order enters a processing or complete status and returned once if it leaves them again (cancel, refund, failed)
Referrals
- A visitor opens a link with
?ref=CODE. The code is kept in a cookie (or the browser session) - The visitor registers (the registration form shows the code, prefilled). A single-use welcome coupon is created unless a flag is set; the friend sees it on the loyalty page
- The friend's first completed order of the minimum amount or more starts the hold. After the hold the scheduled task pays the points. Flagged referrals wait in Referral review
- If that order is cancelled or refunded during the hold, no reward is paid
Admin
- Members: search a customer, open the history, adjust the balance with a reason. A double click or a repeated request changes the balance once
- Referral review: filter by state, approve (pays at once, only while the order is still complete) or reject
- Order status changes in the admin (order history) award and take back points exactly like storefront changes
What the extension does not do
It sends no e-mails, does not show prices in points, does not change OpenCart's built-in reward points and does not pay referral rewards as cash or store credit.
FAQ
Does it replace OpenCart's reward points?
No. It keeps its own balance. OpenCart's reward points (and the core "Reward Points" order total) keep working separately. Products that carry core reward points are skipped for earning by default so a product is never rewarded twice.
When are points earned?
When the order first reaches a status in the "award" list (by default the store's Complete statuses). A repeated Complete, or Complete again after Processing, earns nothing more. Cancelled or refunded takes the points back; Complete again after a refund earns them again.
What if the customer already spent the points of a refunded order?
The balance goes negative (a debt); new points pay it off first, and nothing can be spent while it is open.
Can points pay for shipping or tax?
No. They pay at most the share you set of the products after other discounts. The tax of the discounted part is removed.
Do points work with coupons?
Yes. The coupon and the points line are both discounts; the points limit is based on the products after the other discounts.
Is the referral reward paid when the friend returns the goods?
Not during the hold. Set the hold to your return window. After the payout nothing is taken back.
Will shoppers on the same Wi-Fi be flagged?
A shared IP raises the flag same_ip only against the referrer's own known IPs. Flagged referrals wait for your decision by default.
Does it send e-mails?
Not in this version.
Which cookies does it set?
kv_ref (the referral code, up to the days you set) and kv_dev (a random token for the same-device check, one year) when the setting is on. Both are first-party. Switch them off to keep the code in the browser session only.
Does uninstalling delete my data?
No. Use Delete all data on the Data and cron tab. OpenCart 4 updates extensions by uninstalling and installing them, so data is kept on purpose.
Staff edit an order that used points. What happens?
Saving the edit returns the spent points and spends them again from the saved order. This path is covered by code, not by an automated browser test in this release.
Multi-store?
One ledger per customer for the whole installation; settings are global.
