How do I install the extension?

Upload. Extensions > Installer: upload the .ocmod.zip for your OpenCart version (4.x or 3.0.x). Both packages come with every license.
Install and enable. Extensions > Extensions > Modules: install, open the settings and switch it on. Events register themselves; nothing is patched.
Enter the license key. Paste the key from My licenses. Subdomains, staging and local hosts are included; you have 14 days to do it.

Which OpenCart versions does it work with?

OpenCart 4.1.0.4, 3.0.5.1. Tested on OpenCart 4.1.0.4 and OpenCart 3.0.5.1. The Compatibility tab lists every version range.

Do the extensions change core files?

No. They work through OpenCart events and standard extension types (modules, order totals, themes). No core file edits, no OCMOD patches, no theme template edits, so OpenCart updates and other extensions keep working.

Do I get packages for OpenCart 4 and OpenCart 3?

Yes. Every download has a package for OpenCart 4.0.2 to 4.1.x and one for OpenCart 3.0.3 to 3.0.5, and the license key works with both. Moving from OpenCart 3 to 4 later costs nothing.

What does the license cover?

One production store domain with every subdomain (www, shop., staging.), plus local development hosts such as localhost, *.local and *.test. A store on another domain needs its own license; a second-store license is 40% off. You have 14 days after installing to enter the key. 12 months of updates and support are included; after that the extension keeps working and renewals are 50% off. How licensing works

A parts shop lives or dies by one question: does this fit my car? OpenCart has no answer. Filters cannot hold year ranges or a selector where the model depends on the make. Vehicle Fitment stores which vehicles each product fits and shows the answer wherever your shoppers look, on any theme.

Finder: a bar under the header with make, model, year and engine. Each selector only offers what you really have. Or place it yourself as a layout module.

Limits of this version

No vehicle data is included: you bring your own fitment data, by hand or by CSV. No outside catalogue is connected.
Badges go right after the product name and the block before the buy form. A theme that writes these very differently may show the block inside the description or show no badges. The finder is not affected.
The parts page is for shoppers and is marked noindex.
On OpenCart 3 badges appear on category, search, specials, brand, related, featured, latest and bestseller lists. Other list modules of third parties do not get them.
Selected make and model names are not translated: they show as you entered them.

Installation

Requirements

OpenCart 4.0.2.0 to 4.1.x, or 3.0.3.8 to 3.0.5.x

Install on OpenCart 4

Go to Extensions > Installer and upload kv_vehicle_fitment.ocmod.zip.
Press the install button next to Vehicle Fitment.
Go to Extensions > Extensions, choose Modules and install Vehicle Fitment.

Install on OpenCart 3

Go to Extensions > Installer and upload kv_vehicle_fitment-oc3.ocmod.zip.
Go to Extensions > Modifications and press Refresh.
Go to Extensions > Extensions, choose Modules and install Vehicle Fitment.

First steps

Open Vehicle Fitment in the admin menu, right below Catalog.
On Import and export, upload a CSV, or add vehicles product by product on Products.
Look at your storefront: the finder appears as soon as there is fitment data.

Updating

Upload the new package the same way. Your fitment rows and settings stay.

Removing

Uninstalling the module removes its table and settings, so export your data first (Import and export, Export CSV). Your products are not touched.

Configuration

Open Vehicle Fitment > Settings.

Setting	What it does
Finder bar	Shows the finder at the top of every page. It appears once you have fitment data.
Product cards	Shows fits, may not fit or universal on product cards when a vehicle is chosen.
Product page	Shows the fit message and the vehicle table.
Parts page	Includes universal parts on the parts page.

Placing the finder yourself

Turn the finder bar off, then go to Design > Layouts, open a layout and add the Vehicle Fitment module to a position. If the bar and the module are both on, shoppers still see one finder.

Themes with their own finder

Our Axle theme has its own garage finder. On Axle the automatic bar stays off, so shoppers never see two. The vehicle table on the product page still works.

License

Enter your key on the Settings page. The 14-day trial runs without a key. When a license is not valid, the finder, badges, product block and parts page are off. The admin stays open and your data stays.

Usage

Adding vehicles by hand

On Products, search for a product, or filter on products without fitment, and press Edit. Enter make, model, year from and year to. Engine and note are optional.

A row without an engine fits every engine of that vehicle.
One year: fill in only year from.
Universal part: tick the box. It fits every vehicle.
Capitals and punctuation do not matter: FORD and Ford are one make, Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes Benz too. Shoppers see the first spelling.

CSV import

On Import and export, upload a CSV file. Separate columns by comma or semicolon. You get a preview with the number of rows, the problems per line and a sample. Nothing changes until you press Import these rows.

Add to the existing rows leaves out rows you already have, so importing a file twice changes nothing. Replace the rows of the products in this file first clears those products, other products keep theirs. Lines with a problem are skipped and named in the preview.

We tested a file of 200,000 rows: preview 1.7 seconds and import 26 seconds on our test machine. Your server's upload limit in PHP also applies.

Export CSV gives all rows in the same format, ready to edit and import again.

What shoppers see

They pick make, model and year, and the engine if you have engines for that year, then press Show parts.
The vehicle is remembered in My Garage in their browser, up to five. A click switches vehicle, Clear forgets them.
On a category page, Parts in this category opens the parts of that vehicle in that category.
Product cards and product pages show whether the part fits.

A product without fitment rows shows no badge at all, because we do not know.

FAQ

Does it come with vehicle data?

No. You import your own data. Parts suppliers and catalogues usually supply it as a spreadsheet, and CSV is the format here.

Does it use a paid database or an outside service?

No. Everything stays in your OpenCart database.

Do shoppers need an account for My Garage?

No. It lives in a cookie in their browser, so it does not follow them to another device.

Does it work for motorcycles or trucks?

Yes. Make, model and year are just your data.

Does it filter the normal category pages?

No. Categories stay complete, with badges on the cards. The parts page shows only what fits.

Does my theme work?

The finder works on any theme, as a bar or a layout module. Badges and the product block were tested on the default themes and on our Atlas and Axle themes; see the limits on the first page.

Do the parts pages appear in Google?

No, they are marked noindex. They exist for shoppers.

Do you edit core files?

No. It uses events only, without OCMOD.
